Ayurveda: 'Harmony is health’, is what Ayurveda preaches. This is India’s age-old science of medicine which illumined many, like the early Greeks and Arabs who were so awed that they borrowed from it. According to the World Health Organization, health is not only physical well being or absence of disease, it is rather physical and mental well being. Ayurveda deals with mental, physical and social well being of an individual making it different from other forms of medicinal therapies. Derived from the Sanskrit word, Ayurveda is divided into two words - 'Ayur' which means life and Veda which means knowledge. Ayurveda in India was at its glorious best in the age of Rishis (Hindu ascetics) and Rajas (kings). Our ancient masters and physicians knew exactly how to be healthy and hearty till a ripe age, which would be nothing less than a century! Traces of the science have filtered down the centuries and are being revived in a big way these days. But most people tend to think of Ayurveda as an alternative system of medicine, which it is not. It is a way of life. We tend to ignore that the human body does react to nature’s ever-changing moods and that human life is but only a link in the great web of Life. Medication today has been reduced to curative or system-regulating medicines; preventive medicine has hardly made much progress except for a handful of vaccines. Ayurveda or ‘the knowledge of life’ will tell you that there’s much more to ‘medication’ than that. Ayurveda is based on sound observational concepts which have stood the test of time for thousands of years.

Acupressure and Acupuncture are the "Therapies of Nature". These therapies have been long recognized in India, China, Japan and Korea and are widely used in private clinics of these countries. Recently World Health Organization of Geneva has approved this system.
While visiting China in the 1970's, President Richard Nixon observed how these therapies work and he was impressed with their results. Upon returning to the United States, President Nixon sent a group of leading physicians to China to study Acupressure and Acupuncture. After much research, the physicians expressed favorable opinions about these therapies. Since the 1970's, Acupressure and Acupuncture have gained much popularity in the West as more and more people discover the many benefits.
More than five thousand years ago the Chinese discovered that pressing certain points on the body relieved pain where it occured and it also gave benefit to other parts of the body. Gradually other points were found that not only relieved pain but also influenced the functioning of certain internal organs. In the Indian Books of Ayurveda there is reference to Ayurvedic Massage and Acupressure being used for the purpose of healing.
Acupressure is the most ancient and simplest of the various therapies such as Acupuncture, Shiatsu , Reflexology and other Healing therapies which are prevalent today. Each of these therapies produces healing effects on the internal organs of the body through well defined points on our body surface.

Foot Reflexology is deep-tissue massage of the feet. Reflexology descended from early Eastern cultures. Foot Reflexology was popularized in the 1930's by Eunice D. Ingham, a physiotherapist. Her method is the most popular and widely accepted in the world.
The feet are rich in nerve endings and these nerves are connected to organ systems and glands throughout the body. If our natural rhythms are disrupted and circulation is impaired, (lack of exercise, desk job, bed-ridden) we allow an excess acid condition to develop. Acid crystals, (similar to frost particles when viewed under a microscope) can accumulate in the nerve endings of the feet. When the nerve endings are stimulated with Reflexology, the acid crystals are broken down and circulation is increased in the corresponding organ system or gland - balance is restored.
Reflexology is deeply relaxing and therapeutic.

Clinical Hypnotherapy is used to create positive changes in the mind and body. Clinical Hypnotherapy has been used successfully for everything from smoking cessation and weight loss to alleviation of pain and sports enhancement.
By harnassing the powers of the mind, Clinical Hypnotherapy brings about change by introducing positive suggestion while in a state of extreme relaxation. Clinical Hypnotherapy has nothing to do with "Stage Hypnotism". A subject in a state of hypnosis will only agree to behave in a manner congruent to their personality type.
It is a safe, effective therapy and is endorsed by Dr. Andrew Weil, M.D. for individuals experiencing chronic illness.

With today's fast-paced lifestyle it is sometimes difficult to eat healthy meals. Herbal supplmentation is a helpful therapy to enhance the body's well-being by providing nutrition that is lacking in today's foods. With Muscle Response Testing, proper selection and full benefit from the herbs and supplements are achieved; MRT works with body's energy field and nervous system to determine what is best for the individual. If you think of the human nervous system as an electrical circuit and "breaker box" you will understand that an antagonistic substance like dust can create a switch in the body's electrical system. When the breaker is "switched" to an off position, the energy flow is compromised. This flow of energy moves to another part of the body which can in turn overstimulate another organ system while the energy in the original organ system is lacking. In addition to Muscle Response Testing we practice Tongue and Fingernail Analysis and Pulse Testing to determine the wellness of an individual. When this is determined, tailored therapy is implemented to correct any dis-ease.

Reiki is a Japanese form of Healing Touch. By definition Reiki means "Spiritually-Guided", (Rei) "Energy", (Ki). You may be familiar with other Eastern words for Energy like "Chi" and "Prana" or the Western term "Universal Life-Force Energy". There are many forms of Healing Touch Therapy and each creates the same positive result. Humans have used touch therapies since the beginning of recorded existence. Many ask - how does it work? How do hands heal? First - some history of the Japanese art and science of healing touch called "Reiki". Reiki was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early twentieth century. Dr. Usui was meditating on a mountain top and became inspired to stand under a trickling water fall. As he did this his vibration became attuned with a remarkable Healing Energy. His experience was so profound that he was inspired to share this Energy with others through "attunements". During his mountain top meditation Dr. Usui received images of Reiki symbols to be used for Reiki attunement. A Reiki Attunement is the Healing Energy passed from teacher to student. Dr. Usui atttuned many students who then in turn attuned others and the tradition of Reiki continues to grow to this day. It's important to understand that everyone has the inherent ability to heal through touch. The benefit of learning Reiki is this - it is a discipline that creates focus and increases the energetic vibration of the recipient as well as the receiver. Reiki practitioners are also called "channels" because their vibration is attuned to "channel" Universal Life-Force Energy and guide it where it is needed most in the reicipients body and energy field. According to William Lee Rand, Director of the "International Center for Reiki Training", experienced non-Reiki healers who become attuned to Reiki noticed a considerable increase in Energy and client satisfaction. There are 4 levels of Reiki Attunement. An interesting aspect of learning Reiki is that a student not only learns how to use their hands and mental focus to heal others but a Level I student must also practice Reiki on her/himself daily for a minimum of 30 days. The student is taught specific hand positions to balance the Meridians and Chakra Centers of the body. More advanced students learn distance healing, "beaming" methods, (Reiki II) and Reiki "Mastership", (Reiki III). Attunement to Master status enables the student to teach and attune others to Reiki Energy. Reiki Grand Master, (Reiki IV) status is the highest attunement level known at this time and involves a variety of Reiki symbols for specific use.
Is Reiki Science or Science Fiction? Let's turn to Albert Einstein, Quantum Physics and Modern Medicine for answers... Albert Einstein proved with his famous equation E=mc2 that Energy and Matter are dual expressions of the same universal substance.. The "Universal Substance" is an energy or vibration that we are all composed. By gently manipulating the body with "Rei-Ki" and elevating its vibration, lower vibration entities like dis-ease are unsustainable. Reiki brings about a soothing calm in the most anxious personality which in itself is healing. Medical doctors agree that many of today's disorders have an emotional component. Current research on the brain and body chemistry proves stress has a detrimental affect on the entire body and that relaxation techniques are beneficial to health. Healing touch therapies like Reiki are proven to reduce the surface-tension of water which may explain increased cellular respiration & metabolism in individuals who receive therapy. Reiki and other touch therapies are now being taught to medical professionals and used increasingly in hospital settings.

Samuel Hahnemann, (1755-1843) a German physician, is credited with the development of Homeopathy . Hahnemann was unsatisfied with the medicine of his day so he developed and used a system based on "like cures like" which was, (and continues to be) highly successful. Homeopathic preparations are chosen for the ability to stimulate and balance the physical body by supplying a required frequency of subtle energy. Homeopathy considers mental and emotional attributes of a disorder as well as the physical. Homeopathy is a Vibrational Healing technique that uses plants, herbs, minerals and in some cases viruses and bacteria diluted in water, (a process called potentization). In most cases the molecular chemistry of the original sample is not found in the potentized creation - but instead the vibrational resonance of the plant, mineral or pathogen. Homeopathy has historically proven itself valuable in cases where other modalities have failed. The use of homoepathic remedies has increased in the United States over the last few years due to consumer interest. Homeopathic products are not tested on animals, are cost-effective, all-natural and have a history of success. The English Royal Family employs a personal Homeopathic Physician; Homeopathy is well accepted in many countries in Europe. For more information on the Einsteinian model of medicine and vibrational healing read "Vibrational Medicine" by Richard Gerber, M.D.
